What would be my best route to becoming a college football coach?

Big Red asked:
I do not get any playing time on my high school football team, so walking on may be a reach. How would I get involved in a college football coaching career without playing in college?
If it helps at all, I will be attending a Big Ten college in ‘09.

you can talk to the coach about being a water boy or being an assistant, but even if you play in college doesnt mean youll be a college coach its very hard and you can always go to a 3A school and talk about being a coridanator… it will take a while but good luck
why do you want PT if your a coach
and just coach at the Big Ten school

TONY ROMO FOR THE HALL OF FAME!!!!
Try to get into an apprinticeship with the highschool coach, then head on to the college you want to coach, learn their scemes, head back to your high school coach there, do good, then go to college the become coach.
Probaly the best way is to take a sports curriculum in college and express your desire to the coaching staff of your career goals and make yourself available as a volunteer. If you impress the coaching staff enough, someone may take you under their wing and help mold you into a coach. If not, try to get a job coaching either on a high school team after college and try to work your way up the ladder. If this is your ultimate dream, then you can make it happen. Just don’t lose sight of what you want to do and don’t settle for less than what you want.
i cant think of what they’re called but there are like college graduates that coach the team. low on the importance level but you have to start somewhere
