First Ohio State had football players getting into trouble with booster giving players money for jobs that they didn’t need to show up for. Now, Oklahoma Sooners and Miamia Hurricane players are in trouble. What do you think is the problem? How can we avoid having college football players breaking the law or breaking NCAA rules?

Players want easy money. He’s the solution. Let’s start paying college athletes. Not anything crazy, but something.
The collages need to crack down on them more instead of letting them get away with stuff
There is no way to completely rid college athletics of those incidents. Increasing the punishment of the institution and actually punishing the boosters who break the rules might help. However, college athletics is a big business so there will always be money floating around it. As for breaking the law some programs need to focus more on the character of the athletes that they recruit and do a better job of monitoring their behavior. Don’t think that allowing college players to be paid would help, then they would be young men with money and they tend to cause problems just look at professional athletes and entertainers.
These problems have been around for a long time they come and go but are hard to eradicate completely.
I don’t think that is a problem with just those schools. They are college students with alot on there plates. The NCAA needs to do something that helps support these ‘kids’. Sure there education and housing is paid for, but what if they want to go to a movie or something. no extra money and no time for a job with school and athletics. The NCAA makes a boat load of money off of them but they offer little in return. Sounds like corprate america today!!
the problem with college athletes isn’t as simple as the athletes breaking the rules. the rules set by the ncaa are so strict, that their coach cannot even buy them dinner for any reason what so ever. a lot of athletes come from lower income families and have worked hard thoughout high school to get full athletic scholarships. when they finally get the full ride it, doesn’t come with all things paid for. they become semi-famous, or even extremely famous and feel they need to live the life of a superstar. so when anonymous person gives the athletes a hand up, it’s very difficult to turn down the great offer. the problem is there are rules against that stuff and sometimes athletes get caught. it’s been happening for as long as the rules have been around and is still very prevelent today. every school does it and most athletes do it. the ncaa is just getting better at their investigating skills.
There is no way to curb this problem. Think about it: all of these kids who are brought to these big schools are ONLY there to play football. If they get a 1.0 GPA, that’s a bonus. Playing football is ALL they know how to do. Once the graduate and don’t get drafted into the NFL, they have nothing to fall back on (because they learned NOTHING in school). It’s a sick program, but, unfortunately, that’s America for you…
There isn’t anything that anybody can do. To be perfectly honest, the more the NCAA tries to be strict, the more players you will see get in trouble. There is just too much stuff out there to be had and to be given to them and it’s going to continue. And trust me… every single D-1 school has rules and violations broken everyday, it’s just that 9 times out of 10 they cover it up and nobody ever finds out.
And another thing… people often forget that kids will be kids… they are still young and foolish and they are going to do things to get themselves in trouble. They do it because they know once their done with school they have to grow up and start being responsible and their days of being dependent on others are over. I should know too.. I was a college athlete just a year ago.
